WCHRA has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 virus, the recommendations from the CDC, CDPHE, and Mesa County Public Health, in light of the most recent recommendation regarding gathering of groups of ten or more people.

We have therefore postponed our March 27th class to a later date.

The WCHRA is pleased to offer the first course in a series of training opportunities designed specifically for those who are new to HR, those who perform HR-related duties but are not HR professionals, small business owners, and any HR professional who needs a refresher course.

These courses are as either a half-day training session, followed by 8 weeks of access to our online learning module where students can collaborate with select WCHRA members who are qualified to provide guidance and advice, or as an online course only. Trainees will also receive access to a workbook that will provide detailed directions, tips, and links to resources to help provide continuing education and support.

These peer-reviewed courses are being developed in partnership between WCHRA, professors from the Colorado Mesa University Business Department, and the law firm of Bechtel, Santo & Severn to ensure that the curriculum is accurate, of the highest quality, and conforms to legal requirements for the State of Colorado and U.S. federal laws and regulations. Additionally, we are working with the Society for Human Resource Management to assign continuing education credit hours to each course.

  • How to Perform a Job Analysis - 1/10/20
  • Writing Quality Job Descriptions - 3/27/20
  • Creating Fair and Equitable Compensation Plans - 6/19/20
  • Tying Employee Evaluation Systems to Compensation Plans - 9/11/20
  • Conducting a Wage Audit - 11/6/20

Trainees will receive a certificate of completion for successfully completing each course and will receive a special certification from WCHRA if they complete all five courses.

Multi-Purpose Room A at the Mesa County Central Service Building located at 200 South Spruce, Grand Junction, CO.  Enter the building by the West Door which is marked: Elections.  Turn left and go down the hall to the Multi-Purpose Room.
