Best Practices, Failed Pre-employment Drug Screen

    I am curious what best practices/policies others have for when a new hire fails their pre-employment drug screen. Is there a "standard" waiting period for them to reapply, or do organizations make this person a non hire able going forward?

    I know that there are companies that allow a retest after a specific period

    I would think that would only be acceptable in organizations where random UAs are not required. If safety issues or randoms are going to be concerns, it would seem that the person would not be eligible for hire (maybe a longer period would work? 6 months?)
