HR Driven with Purpose:

2019 Legislative and Case Law Review

Registration closed

As Human Resources professionals, we are driven to help our organization and our employees succeed. To reach these goals, we must keep up with the ever-changing road of employment laws, policies, and best practices. This year, in particular, will likely bring many substantial changes in this area, such as the possibility of paid family and medical leave for all Colorado employees, restrictions on defenses to equal pay claims, which will necessitate a significant review of every organization's employee handbook, new requirements for posting job openings, and a higher salary requirement for exempt employees.

WCHRA is teaming up with the Bechtel Santo & Severn attorneys to present the Spring Conference, to help you continue to drive your organization toward future success. Conference topics include:

  • Implementing Legislative Changes. Now that you know the changes, what does your organization need to do about them? The Bechtel Santo & Severn attorneys will discuss tips, insights, policies/practices, etc. to ensure that your organization is ready for and complying with the new legal changes. For example, one of the biggest changes that we see looming is the likelihood that all employers, including small businesses, will have to implement paid family and medical leave policies. But don't worry: after the conference, you will be prepared to address this change, and many others, whether your organization is large, small, or somewhere in between.
  • Forms, forms, forms. Do you ever feel like you are drowning in paperwork? This session will help you master those pesky government forms, such as the W-4, the I-9, and the new CAPS background check requirements.
  • Wage and Hour Developments. Changes to the exemption requirements may cause some employees who have been classified as exempt to be reclassified as non-exempt. Wage and hour lawsuits are on the rise and can be devastating to employers. We will help make sure you are complying with the new law.
  • Drive to Optimize Your Workforce. This forward-looking presentation will focus on today's changing workforce, including a discussion about employee motivations and why you may want to incorporate their values into your organization's corporate culture. We will also discuss how to seize previously untapped potential in your workforce, as well as new ways to encourage employees, retain employees, and create employee buy-in.
